The “Breaking Bad” star has died

Sad news from Hollywood: Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83. The actor is best known for his roles in ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul.’  The actor died after a short illness at the age of 83 in Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, several US media reported on Friday, August 4, 2023.

His son, Morgan Margolis, 56, is said to have confirmed the sad news. Accordingly, he and Margolis’ wife Jaqueline, 83, were by his side when the Hollywood star took his last breath.

Margolis, who was born in Philadelphia in November 1939, travelled to New York City at a young age to seek a career as an actor. He began his career on Broadway, appearing in more than 50 plays, according to Variety magazine. He later appeared in numerous film and television productions. Margolis made his breakthrough with his role as Alberto the Shadow in the cult film “Scarface”. He may be known to a younger audience as Hector Salamanca from the hit Netflix series “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”. He was nominated for an Emmy in 2012 for his portrayal of the former drug lord who continues to watch over Albuquerque’s meth trade from his nursing home.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline – they were married in New York and have been married for 61 years – and only child Morgan Margolis, his wife Heide and three sons Ben, Aidan and Henry, his brother and his wife, Jerome and Ann Margolis. As “Daily Mail” reports, the family is planning a private memorial service and funeral for the actor.
